A hop house (also known as a hop dosser, dry hopper) is used for adding pellet hops into a closed fermentation tank without exposing the beer to oxygen. The vessel is mounted on top of the fermenter and allows controlled transfer of hops by opening the butterfly valve beneath it. This setup is typically used for dry hopping in craft breweries that want to minimise oxygen pick-up during hop additions.
